A couple of my Hawaii favourites
A sample of the simple and inexpensive, delightful highlights of my (recent) time in Hawaii.
If you have not (yet) seen my instagram photos of the “that’s gold“ moment when I discovered these local pineapples – I am posting for posterity – the Maui Gold pineapples – as the MOST DELICIOUS pineapples I have ever tasted and this is coming from a Queenslander, (for international readers, Queensland is known as the “pineapple” state). My boys became tired of my exclamations of delight – every time I cut up another of those gold jems. Unless you have tasted one, I guess you will never know ………..
The hot dog was not a favourite food in Hawaii – but when left with nearly two hours time to kill, because Mum wanted to take the 12pm tour, to see the USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbour – a round of mini hot dogs kept the lads going and distracted for long enough for us to make it to the memorial.
Frozen yoghurt is taking off in popularity in Australia – but the boys had not experienced it before this trip – they could not believe it wasn’t ice-cream and (thankfully), it put the smile back on their dials (mine too) after a couple of hours of shopping.
Sometimes its the simple and inexpensive things that become a highlight.
(and FYI- pineapples were $1.29 each!)
