Coorparoo Salon offers International Expertise
aesthetica, located in Coorparoo on Brisbane’s south side proudly boasts a beauty therapist, with international experience as well as the latest government approved qualification in permanent hair removal and Intense Pulsed Light. Michelle Killeen, an Irish lass with a friendly smile, cheeky laugh and cheery disposition, is the internationally experienced member of aesthetica’s qualified team of senior beauty therapists.
Michelle’s international qualifications are from Mayoralty College in Galway, Ireland where she completed a full-time Beauty, Body and Massage course. One of her awarded diplomas – the C.I.D.E.S.C.O. – is internationally recognised and allows the holder to work in over 32 countries. Michelle worked in Ireland for three years at Mayo’s prestigious and award winning Ashford Castle, a five star hotel voted No. 1 best hotel resort in Ireland. Take a look at Ashford’s web site http://www.ashfordcastle.com and you will wonder why she would leave such a breath taking place of work. But leave she did, saying farewell to her homeland, relocating to Australia. Michelle commenced at aesthetica in early 2012.
IPL and laser hair reduction are areas Michelle is very passionate about and interested in. Years ago when this type of treatment began on the beauty scene, it was considered a luxury. “Nowadays with improved technology and greater education, it is available to the wider community,” says Michelle. Salon Director Tracy Dobbin says, “anyone serious about managing hair removal should consider Pulsed Light to eliminate the problem of ingrown hair and improve pigmented and scarred skin.”
With the industry receiving (some) bad press in early 2013, because of a few inexperienced IPL operators, Tracy encouraged Michelle to build on her knowledge in this specialised area. Michelle enrolled in the nationally recognised College, Beauty Therapy Training Australia in Cooloongatta (1). She graduated late in 2013, following an intensive six month course in Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Hair Reduction.
At aesthetica, Michelle provides specifically tailored programs using the latest in hair removal technology to offer the best personal results. “I feel it is important to educate aesthetica’s clients on the difference between IPL and laser,” says Michelle. “I create a treatment plan to achieve their desired results using the many options we have available.”
The client is given a full consultation about the treatment process. “We always do a 24 hour patch test to ensure the client’s skin type is safe for this type of treatment. We then talk about the importance of after care, especially in regards to the sun,” says Michelle.
In conjunction with the Salon Director, Tracy who has over 30 years experience in the industry and 10 years of delivering Pulsed Light, aesthetica offers clients a highly innovative and educated service. “Our Intense Pulsed Light system is an advanced version called Variable Pulsed Light (VPL) which is the same technology, but with the added advantage of safer delivery using variable settings and micro-pulses instead of a single, potentially harmful high energy pulse,” says Tracy.
aesthetica focus on fuss and finish providing contemporary and traditional treatments with a difference via:

- Collectively offering a greater depth of knowledge, expertise and research,
- The many tools available to support the desired outcome including the latest machinery and skin care range

Michelle’s international experience and recent qualifications combined with the salon’s near 14 years experience with hair removal – guarantees you are in good hands at aesthetica.
