Let you Go
by Pete Murray
Released: March 2012, Let you Go is the latest single release from Pete’s Blue Sky Blue Album.
Its an eerie, haunting intro, followed closely by his signature acoustic guitar. Pete’s soulful, smouldering voice floats in reflectively, It’s been four long years gone by now, Can see the shape I’m in, Rest assured I’m on my way, how’d you get me to the place I been. Anyone relating to the post break-up stage of a relationship, will resonate with his sympathetic and heart-felt words. Pete admits the album reflects for him, a personal and positive journey. “I let myself be open to whatever came as a writer and there is certainly personal experience in there,” he says. “I wanted it to be emotional but not heavy, to let those emotions float rather than sink.”
The song’s finale, accompanied by a hint of brass and a subtle guitar riff, momentarily lifts the gently undulating melody. Pete’s smokily-pitched lyrics, yes I know, that I have to let you go, let you go, just like I want you to stay – a hypnotic plea to one’s self, repeated effectively throughout the song – ends with the message setting inside your own mind.
Want to move beyond your break-up blues?
Turn up the volume on Let you go when riding solo in the car. I guarantee it will be the best form of free therapy. Also a beautiful anthem for one of life’s most important lessons – letting go.
‘Blue Sky Blue’ delivered two hit singles ‘Always A Winner’ and ‘Free’. Both have reached Top 15 in the Airplay Chart and Top 40 in the ARIA Singles Chart.
